LyonLyon has 3 main stations: Lyon Part Dieu, Lyon Perrache in the city centre and Lyon Saint-Exupery TGV which is next to the airport. Trains between Ebbsfleet and Lyon run around 15 times a day, but the train due to arrive at 22:59 also runs on Saturdays from 9th January 2010, and the 21:01 also runs on Saturday 19th, 26th December 2009 and 2nd January 2010. Eurostar trains between Ebbsfleet International and Lyon have average journey times of between 5 hours 6 minutes and 5 hours 31 minutes depending on whether you change at Paris or Lille. It is still faster and more convenient to reach via high speed rail. The most popular time to book tickets is for early summer. Lyon is a UNESCO world heritage site that offers a wide variety of activities and tourist attractions, from shopping, art and crafts markets to different sports and leisure activities. The general climate in Lyon means maximum temperatures of 80F/27C in summer, and minimum temperatures of 35F/1C in winter. It rains about once a month, and there is occasional snow in winter.

Points of InterestFourvière’s Roman theatreThe Théâtres Romains de Fourvière is the oldest in France, built by the order of Augustus, dating from 17 to 15 BC and expanded during Hadrian’s reign. It was originally dedicated to Cybele. Museums There are many museums available to the public, for example the Confluence Museum, housing exhibits and artefacts from the Gallo-Roman civilization to the silk and textile trade, the original cinematographic inventions or the Resistance period. The buildings themselves are examples of Lyon’s magnificent monuments and show the town’s rich heritage, although still more receptive and accessible in order to deal with increasing demand and popularity. |
